The Source

A Friday night social and recreational group where young adults age 16 to 28 living with mental illness can get together to socialize and have fun. The environment is supportive and non judgemental. They meet between 7 and 10 pm at the McNabb Community Center on Percy Avenue (corner of Percy and Gladstone) in the Assembly Hall which is large and offers lots of space for their varied activities. It also offers a kitchen so the food is always great. The participation fee is $3 weekly which helps to cover the supplies and refreshments

What Do We Do?

On the night where we meet and stay in the center we do a variety of things. You can see the schedule by looking at www.pleosource.ca. Sometimes we have a movie night, sometimes we cook or bake, sometimes we play sports and yes on Hallowe'en we have been know to dress up

On night where we meet in the community we might go to a movie or a hockey game, or we could participate in Winterlude, go to McLaren's to shoot pool or maybe just to a Pho restaurant on Sommerset.

This August for the third year in a row we did a week-end camping trip, this year to Murphy's Point.

The group is facilitated by three fun and relaxed individuals. Graeme and Andrew have been with the group since its beginning in 2005. Brooke has joined the team and gives us a great gender balance!!
