PLEO represents the Family Voice in many community forums:

The Community Suicide Prevention Network: PLEO is a member of this Network and of its Steering Committee, representing families. The Network consists of over 45 community member agencies including hospitals (e.g. the Royal and CHEO), mental health agencies (e.g. Youth Services Bureau, Crossroads Children’s Centre, Roberts/Smart Center), community agencies (e.g. United Way, Ottawa Public Health, Ottawa Police Services) and the Ottawa Boards of Education. This community network is working towards making Ottawa a suicide safer community.  Learn more about the Community Suicide Prevention Network by visiting their Facebook page at:

The Ottawa Service Collaborative: PLEO represents families on this initiative, which is funded jointly by the Ministries of Health and Education. This group consists of service providers such as hospitals, mental health agencies, educational institutions and families, and its goal is to address protocols to streamline how youth with more complex mental health needs can be more seamlessly served by multiple agencies.

Family Council at the Royal: The Royal has a Family Council that advises the management team on issues that impact families and family members served by the Royal. PLEO has a representative on this committee.

Family Engagement Training for service providers: PLEO is the Ottawa Chapter of Parents for Children’s Mental Health, which took the lead in developing a two day training module for service providers on Family Engagement on behalf of the Centre of Excellence for Children’s Mental Health. Phyllis Grant-Parker, PLEO’s Executive Director, was co-facilitator of the pilot training program delivered to Crossroads Children’s Centre in December 2012.
